Zilyana Eliyen Liastina-Wranqirelle is the star of the girl’s university duelling team and he or she knows it. She has totally melee (solo) winner’s wide lace from the last six meetups. It would be seven but lady was very hungover even after going out drinking with the Agata cheerleaders the night before the meetup at Agata. Maybe main if she hadn’t overlooked the Lunax meetup to be gone air elemental surfing ready sorority sisters. Okay, 9 if she hadn’t just lately been disqualified from the regionals competition for attacking one of the preference judges for scoring your girl form poorly in the Kalpin floor routine. Coach Hladne wanted her kicked through the team for that but the Leader of Meethonburh University overruled them, saying that it was a valuable learning experience for everyone.

Specifically what Zilyana learnt, yet again, is that money lets you get away alongside anything. In her the circumstance it’s her parents a living. Her father is existing money and is the current Grande Grunkily, 17th of their line. The treasure room or space at the family castle typically is well stocked and secured that way from the forests in addition to the farmlands.   Her parents is new money and additionally sits as CEO to majority shareholder of the Meethonburh Construction Bank, which she founded with her share while using hoard from dragon on top of the Killmount. They’ve numerous made huge endowments and even direct donations to Meethonburh University and the garden everywhere they first met may renamed after them. They have also given their little the same tidy fortune which gave her older brother, relating to expenses.

Her brother objected that he’d had to work harder to get into Riverfell Wizard’s Varsity whereas for Zilyana gets results family name on the system was enough. Zilyana caught her tongue out coming from his complaints and went back to  sharpening her swords. And what fine swords could be. A present from her mother on her eighteenth birthday, their master-crafted to make of blackened adamantine applying family crest engraved using the pommel. Ever indulged for her parents, her mommy thinks that pursuing a very adventuring career will be precisely what Zilyana needs to find some people direction in her work.

Her preferred directions happen to be dungeons and parties. Gets results academic performance is woeful from neglect but with finally the Dean covering for her portman gets to go on all the sensible field trips. Zilyana is often a mixed blessing for any special event that ends up with her. The girl natural talent for sudden violence means she’s cool in a simple fight, rather she’s no interest in teamwork, tactics, puzzle solving nor logistics. If she’s driven as a party captain taylor lets the others do all of the checking with a bored disinterest that only lifts when she will immediately get her swords bloody. The girl’s classmates have given up wishing to work with her and now entirely manage around her, virtually treating her as a summoned creature: she kills, and they handle the rest.

When it comes to of them though, then she is aware of planning and organisation. With her deluxe magic carpet, her very own clique goes to all the nest parties in style. With her spending money she rents the best types for feasts. When they keep on holidays, it’s to the all exclusive resorts by march class teleport. Shopping outings are weekend long propinquity that end with multi- bags of holding stuffed with the latest fashions and captivated me items. Zilyana has an whole entire floor of her property just for all her fabric and gear.

Returning to campus to begin her second year, Zilyana expected her happy unchallenged life to continue but Amedee Presjyre’s arrival threatens to evolve all that. Amedee’s family arrive with an Earldom, her townhouse has become bigger and she’s superbly capable with her ancestral spear. To make matters even worse, she has attending all the lectures and in actual fact working with her classmates. In the case when Zilyana isn’t careful, this amazing first year is going to pull out and replace her on the duelling lineup and take all Zilyana’s fame and glory. On the plus side, Amedee’s family haven’t donated to the university yet…

  1. Hi, I just wanted to find some bad RPGs to read up on, but all google does nowadays is just shove spam articles about Fatal or shows me the “best rpgs” listicles.

I distinctly remember there's one that is weird and esoteric as all get out with very vague rules for example, but can't find it.

  2. Would this idea work? I remember the show Pirates of Dark Water rather fondly as a kid and I think the world setting would make a fantastic place to adventure within. Sky priates flying around in airships over magically cursed waters oozing from the planet's core is just fun IMO.

My question is would 7th Sea be the swashbuckling ruleset Id want to use for such a setting? I've never played it myself but Ive heard plenty of good things about it here at r/rpg. Or am I better off looking elsewhere, like to Mork Borg's most recent fan addition 'Pirate Borg'?

  3. Not trying to put down anyone who doesn't mind how buying & selling stuff works, I just wanna express my annoyances even though everyone's table experience and opinions are different.

I dunno if it just has to do with how my DMs and I have gone about doing it, but I find the process of buying gear and selling treasure to be a very unexciting part of traditional fantasy tabletop systems like D&D, Pathfinder, and others. For a part of the game that happens so frequently, I've found that every “shopping encounter” goes like this:

PCs arrive in a town with things to buy or sell.

Sometimes, the shop to sell a specific item isn't there, and it has to be done at another town, otherwise,

PCs go into a shop. Sometimes, there's a bit of roleplay as the DM describes the store and the quirky shopkeep, but usually this is just skipped as everyone wants to get it over with. Sometimes there will be a Charisma check to haggle for a specific item, but usually not.

Money is added or subtracted and said item is exchanged.

I get that this might be a necessary evil, but I'm only complaining about this because it feels like it could be done better, and it's such a significant part of the game that it needs some refinement. Coinage has to have some sort of meaning so the players can get excited about having it to purchase the goodies they want, but this whole process feels as dry as doing taxes to me.

Am I missing something? Are there better ways to do this, to spice up the way shopping or selling treasure works to make it more exciting? Have you tried any personal ways to spice things up, or know of any systems that use an alternative method of doing things, like a barter system? I want to make the exchange of goods more interesting.

  4. So many times in this hobby I've read a game, had impressions on how it would run, and they always turn out to be completely different after playing them.

I really don't think you can pick up on how a game will play based on read through.

I've had experiences with games where I've read them, and thought they were the bees knees (Savage Worlds / Fate), and hated them at the table.

I have experiences where I thought a game would provide a pretty normal session (Alien), and been completely wrong. The game had a lot more say in the style of the experience than I did.

I would love to do more RPG reviews, but they're very hard to find the time for.

  5. I'm a long time gm who recently (almost 2 months ago) got burned out over my game. I got a new job a few months ago and have felt that my rpg took up way too much of my precious free time, and eventually one day I got so stressed out that I just broke down and cried mid game. I haven't played or even hanged out with my friends since then…

However now I'm itching to play again, and I've started tinkering with a new campaign idea. But since I've never experienced any form of burnout before I'm not sure what to expect from all this.

Do you think that it might be too soon for me to get back to gm-ing? And all of you who has experienced burnout before, what are your advice to prevent it from happening again?

  6. Hey, after the first successful session with my wife and our friend they said that they love there characters. They want to play them again.

And know I am asking myself:” should I start with a campaign after there first session? Or should I play a one shot ?

Do you have some experience to share ?
