Genetic RTS, BOID, Launches Today with Free Multiplayer

July 8, 2016Launching today on Steam with free multiplayer and an optional single-player campaign, BOID is real-time strategy at its most primal. No funds to manage or infrastructures to build. It’s a kill or be killed battle of rapid decisions to dominate the gene pool.

BOID’s multiplayer is completely free and full-featured, including head-to-head PvP, bot matches, Twitch integration, and the ability to design and share your own levels. And, for those who prefer the single-player experience, BOID offers a 10-hour campaign sold as optional DLC.

BOID was designed with competitive play in mind, and to test this, we invited White-Ra — the infamous StarCraft pro — to play a few matches with Maxym Hryniv, the game’s developer. You can watch the two players face off here:

BOID’s Twitch integration allows viewers to become active participants in streamed matches, using a chat based voting system to keep their favorite broadcasters on their toes by enabling in-game modifiers and bonuses.

Gameplay and Features
Claim vital positions to replicate and mutate into seven specialized units, such as the fast and vulnerable Scout, the explosive Kamikaze, and the life-draining Leach. Press your enemies for weaknesses, outflank their ambushes, usurp their bases, and amass an unstoppable swarm to overpower your adversaries.

This is more than a battle for your survival. It’s a fight for all life to come.

– Fight to claim the planet in a 10-hour, single-player campaign.
– Create the perfect skirmish with bots and four difficulty levels.
– Go online with ranked, unranked, and private 1v1 matches.
– The more you play, the more your list of Friends & Rivals grows.
– Create custom maps to share, and subscribe to your favorite creators.
– Twitch integration allows viewers to participate in the game.
– Color blind mode for heightened game accessibility.

  1. I remember playing Bubble Bobble and that crazy tune that gets stuck in your head. If you remember this game at all, that tune just popped into your brain – sorry!

I had a quarter and a dream! I ventured into game development 4 years ago and finally made a game that I think takes Bubble Bobble mechanics and moves it to the modern era of gaming. I lurk this sub a lot and wanted to first see if there are Bubble Bobble fans our there? And second, show my passion project (not out yet) to you all!

  2. Hey all,

I love Taito’s Ice Cold Beer and am hoping to snag one of the remakes when it releases. But since their appearance at last years IAAPA I’ve seen nothing. And their website has barely any details at all. Really hoping this makes it out soon 🙂

  3. Anyone have Marvel vs Capcom 2 running on a Jamma setup with crt, PI 4B’s are hard to come by so the RGB PI dream is on hold. The GroovyMame PC i bought was a dud, and I am at a loss. The pandora box DX I own is pretty awful and want to know what people out there have in there cabinets. I just want something I can throw in my astro city to play MVC 2, the market is super barren from what I can see. There is no one solution to just have a board that plays classics all the way to Naomi era. I am possibly looking at a Naomi netdimm setup so if you have one I would like to hear the pros and cons.

  4. Need some help

I recently bought a custom made arcade. It is a 43” screen with hyperspin 9000 games. I am just curious if the resolution is normal. It looks quite low… Wondering if this is normal for hyperspin. I tried to capture this by video but it does look ok when looking at the video…but it looks very low resolution with my bare eyes…is this normal? Or can be improved by some setting?

    Thanks!

  5. Was wondering if there is a website that aims to preserve high quality renders of old arcade game artwork, the stuff you'd see on the side of the machines, logo, etc. Been wanting to find a bunch of Namco ones for an online project!

  6. Working on a Jurassic park lost world cabinet, I intend to make a wiring harness for it but I can only find the pinout for Virtua Fighter 3, I am wondering if the pinout for Lost World is out there somewhere.

Or if anyone here has one if they could take clear pictures of all the connectors and wires hooked up to the PCB and where they go.
