  1. I'm just wondering if you guys happen to know of any sites, message boards or video channels that cover the games in depth from this time period? As much as I love my nostalgia and classics, I get so guddamn sick of it because it's all people talk about and I've been wanting to follow along with the scene ever since the 90's ended. Stuff like Taito Type X, Sega Lindbergh, etc have so much stuff to play, but it seems nobody is dedicated enough to go over any of it.

It's quite an injustice that gaming circles ignore it to the point where it's becoming more of a forgotten era, when the reality is it's all just stuck in japan (for the most part)

  2. For anyone who grew up in Vancouver Canada, do you remember a video arcade game area and ice cream stand in Kingsgate mall circa 1989-1992? This was the area right before the escalators that led to the supermarket.

At the time, I was a little kid, but I had never seen or tried a video arcade, so these were obviously very defining moments.

I specifically remember most of the video arcades, they had a ‘Final Fight’, ‘Hard Drivin’, and ‘Off Road’. Later, they replaced the 'Final Fight' arcade with a 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' unit. Additionally, there was a pinball game, but I can't recall what it was.

Trying 'Final Fight' and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' left a huge impression on me because those games were very state of the art at the time. My parents always rushed me out of the arcade area quickly, as the area was pretty seedy.

Does anyone else remember or have stories of this little arcade area in Kingsgate mall from back in the day? I would love to hear.

Also, if anyone has any old photos of this spot from that era, or knows of any archives that might contain some pictures, I’d love to know.
